WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

I’d like to welcome everyone to our new group blog, Libraries and Social Media. Our group has 7 students. We have Lora Beatty, Michelle Mills, Alexandria Orlando, Leona Stinson, Alison Thompson, Melissa Van Wyk, and Georgiana Wentz. As of writing this post I have heard from 4 students in the group and set them up as directed in the assignment. I also included our professor, Linda Morrow, as she asked to be a part of each group.

I've been a Palomar Library Tech student for 4 semesters. This is my last LT class and I still need to take the computer class. I work as a Substitute Library Media Tech at a local district for their elementary schools. I received my BA degree many, many years ago. I have 4 grown children and and 11 grand children with 2 more coming in March. I love to visit them and bring new books for me to read to them. I've done it for awhile and now they ask me what books I'm bringing.

My daughter had setup a family blog about 3 years ago. I signed into that blog and from there I set up a new blog for our group. I sent a few emails to the members of our group and when they gave me their Gmail address I sent them the invitation to be an Author on the blog. When they accepted the blog invitation I changed their status to an Administrator on the blog.

The auto blog page was a big orange blob so I searched through the suggested templates that Blogger had on the site and set one that made me think of an old library. It looked like a comfortable place to sit and read.

I’m looking forward to having fun with this assignment. If any of you are having a hard time figuring out something, contact me and we might be able to figure it out together.

Have fun everyone! Happy blogging!

  1. I just adjusted the width of the blog and the side bars so that the side bars didn't look too small and cramped. While doing this I enlarged the font on the blog title so that it would center again. I have tried but couldn't figured out how to recenter the picture.

  2. I just added one more of our class blogs. It's called "Learning the Ropes of Library Technology".

  3. I just noticed that only my email was receiving alert emails when ever a post or a comment was made on our blog. I have added each of the administrators email addresses to the list. So if it worked, you will receive an email with this comment in it.

  4. I added a little personal information to my introduction as I had suggested to the other contributors so mine would read more like the other posts.

  5. I noticed that when I clicked on the links for the Libraries on Facebook that they didn't take me to the web page and I got an error page. So I edited the url for each of the Facebook pages by removing the secured page, https, now it works. Yea!
